Everything you expected. And really only what you expected
The movie itself doesn't really start to get interesting until Katniss gets interested in what she's doing. When Jennifer Lawrence sings "The Hanging Tree" I got chills that stayed with me through the rest of the movie. I found myself wishing I had forgotten what happened in the book and just hoping things would turn out alright, knowing that they wouldn't.
Cressida steals the show in every scene she's in. But then again, who would expect any less from Natalie Dormer? She's a powerhouse and I wish there was more of her in this movie. She rivaled Lawrence for chemistry with the camera, while Finnick, Johanna and Peeta, having minimal screen time, had some of the most powerful moments and memorable lines that high school girls will have plastered over their notebooks after thanksgiving break.
All in all a great film for the fans but one that wasn't spectacular as a sum of its parts.
